چکیده

Among the metabolic events which have been found to accompany the ingestion of particles by polymorphonuclear leukocytes (1) is an enhanced incorporation of inorganic phosphate-P32 into the total phosphatide fraction (2). Under suitable conditions, there was found to be a doubling of the specific activity of this fraction in leukocytes which were engulfing starch granules, compared with leukocytes at rest (2). We suggested previously (2) that the increased labeling of phosphatides when leukocytes accumulate particles might not be different in principle from that observed during some types of secretion, i.e. when particles or substances in solution pass from the inside of cells to the outside (e.g. pancreatic secretion of zymogen granules (3)). Experiments have now been carried out to determine whether the labeling of speci$c phosphatides is observed during the passage of particles about 1 to 3 p in diameter into leukocytes.

Metabolic Patterns in Three Types of Phagocytizing Cells

Some chemical and metabolic characteristics of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and monocytes from peritoneal exudates of the guinea pig, and of alveolar macrophages from the same animal, have been compared. Changes in the metabolic patterns of these three types of cell have been followed during the act of phagocytosis. The effect of conventional inhibitors of metabolism, and of anaerobiosis on the...

Lipids of Acanthamoeba Castellanii

The lipids of Acanthamoeba castellanii (Neff) consist of 52% neutral lipids and 48% polar lipids. Triglycerides account for 75% and free sterols for 17% of the neutral lipids. The major phospholipids are phosphatidylcholine (45%), phosphatidylethanolamine (33%), phosphatidylserine (10%), a phosphoinositide (6%), and diphosphatidylglycerol (4%). The phosphoinositide is unique in that it contains...

THE STUDY OF OPSONIZATION ACTIVITY OF THE PHAGOCYTOSIS PROCESS IN MENINGITIS, SEPSIS, AND RECURRENT INFECTION IN CHILDREN

In this survey, opsonization activity of sera in 110 patients with meningitis, sepsis and recurrent infection 12 patients after healing and 50 normal adults has been studied. Opsonization activity was measured by an assay depending on electronic particle counting to measure yeast uptake (alternative pathway activator) which was modified in our laboratory. Three classes of immunoglobulins (...

Dynamics of milk leukocytes in response to intramammary infusion of amoxicillin plus sulbactam during bovine subclinical mastitis

The therapeutic potential of amoxicillin plus sulbactam and its effect on dynamics of milk leukocytes in bovine sub clinical mastitis were investigated in this study. Therapeutic efficacy was measured by somatic cell count and total bacterial count of the milk, whereas, the dynamics of milk leukocytes were assessed by measuring phagocytosis, hydrogen peroxide production, myeloperoxidase and lac...

بررسی فعالیت ماکروفاژهای صفاقی موش C57BL/6 پس از فاگوسیتوز سلول‌های بنیادی مزانشیمی ژله وارتون آپوپتوز شده

Background: Macrophages are one of the most important immune cells. Macrophages can be divided into two main subgroups of classical or inflammatory macrophages(M1) and alternative or non -inflammatory macrophages or (M2), due to different stimuli. One of the factors that causes the macrophage to orient towards M2, is the phagocytosis of apoptosis cells (efferocytosis). The phagocytosis of mesen...
